I have many answers, but only to irrelevant questions

Just casual blogging for future reference

There is a place called Cold Spring Tavern, just off the 154 in SB. By most days and nights it is an elegant restaurant with pricey entrees and wines. On Sunday afternoons there is live bluegrassy music. Large groups of bikers, hikers, and (other) gather. Tri tip sandwiches barbecued by a large man with a burly beard are available for hungry purchasers. It can be enjoyed while drinking a beer and watching the live band's drummer play his box. The perfect way to enjoy the final moments of the weekend.

Heh.

Also, haven't mentioned this program called Kids in Nature I have been doing since Fall. I basically teach kids about ecological / environmental things, but the kids usually aren't in the classroom. I bet you can guess where they do their learning. Its one of the better things I have found myself doing ever. Really enjoy it. Wouldn't mind doing it forever, I think. Creativity is withering in the classroom. I truly believe this. Some don't think creativity is important. I do.

Thanks for visiting friends, I had fun this weekend even though I was sickly and have a test tomorrow.

I had one of my better SB weekends this past week.

Partly because it pretty much started on Wednesday. I, along with some friends, went to Zodos bowling alley. I needed a strike on the 10th frame to win and take the dollar that each person would owe me. I got a turkey! It was fantastic.

Thursday: Went on a nice hike. Then ate at a place called Cold Spring Tavern, where they have interesting meats like Rabbit, Elk, and Deer. I got the pork chops, but got to try all the strange things. It was quite delicious.

Friday: I saw inception for the second time. I was watching from a new perspective, but I would have to say that it was better than the first time. There is a sequel coming out, it better be good.

Saturday: Started the morning early and went to an elementary school to do some gardening for extra credit for my education class. Then I went to the beach and we ended up going rafting out into the ocean. Played some very fun games. If you lost, a flip had to be done into the water, followed by swimming under the raft, waving at everyone, and coming out the other side. After that got old, we raised the stakes. Loser had to eat an ocean creature (probably a large isopod). It was a trip.

Sunday: Went on a field trip to Morro Bay to do bird watching all day. It is a pretty place. And I also have a school boy crush on my TA which meant it was game time. Coming back to SB, we stopped by Modonna Inn. They have some cool bathrooms where its like you're pissing under a waterfall.

Great weekend.

Also, I saw a girl wearing a shirt today that said: " No matter the LETTER. Greek is BETTER"
I thought: That may be true. But you Greek come up with some primitive rhymes.

It has been an eventful last couple of months.

Started school.
I have a class where I go on bird watching field trips in the morning.
And also a class where I go on field trips with elementary kids and teach them about nature.
.....are these better than your classes? Yea, probably.

-Ridiculous night with party bus and clubbing in Hollywood for my buddy Dallas' 21st.
-Living the dream with Dallas, Biz, and Darrylle. Ratatat live in concert. Just amazing.
-Ate Chris' wedding. What is better than having a celebration with those you love?
-Krissan's wedding. Ditto
-Halloween adventures at HARD and Disneyland.

My life is hella G huh? I'm all about it.

Current Pet Peeves

How Starbucks makes you say venti, grande, tall. I know it was part of a comedians stand-up. But seriously, ordering at Starbucks is hella confusing.

How people on youtube try to seriously analyze a song and make recommendations about how to make the song better. EX: "between 1:54 and 2:15 there is some sort of button mashing, string jamming, un-harmonic hodgepodge. that is the only part that kills the song. It needs melody there. it starts around 4:15 too." Really CountyOrdinance? Go write a song then. Dumbass.

I went biking around the SF area. Hella beautiful and fun. Made me realize I have yet to experience all that SF has to offer.

Summer is almost gone. But not quite yet.

Relaxing beach days to get away from the scorching heat of San Jose. Even when some pathetic ranger errr security gaurd errr....lets just say this guy didn't quite make the cut to become part of the highway patrol. Well, even when Mr. Pathetic writes me a ticket for having glass on the beach , I love hanging out with my friends enough that the ticket doesn't even upset me.

Saw curren$y DT. He put on a DROOP necklace. Craycray!

Sadly, I did end up going to my least favorite place in the whole entire universe. The DENTIST -___- . They even did some "deep cleaning" BS. After this "deep cleaning" my teeth are hella tender. Now I have to eat candy and drink soda to get a protective sugar coating on my teeth again.

I JUST got netflix. I emphasized the JUST because netflix is hella cool. Not only do they mail you dvds (and they have all the classics, so you don't have to worry about finding those) but you get to stream good quality movies/tv shows from your computer, psp, xbox, etc. any time you want.

Went on a mini "bike party" with my cousins and immediate family. But it was unlike a bike ride you've ever seen! Because this:

Summer is never a bummer.

I will cherish those relaxing days where I wake up with nothing to do at 8 in the morning. So I eat breakfast, watch a TV show, and go back to sleep until 4 in the afternoon.

Hiking in the mountains is so crucial if I want to call myself an outdoors-man. I do that from time to time.

Some of my chillest Saturday afternoons consisted of frisbee golfing with people I hardly knew.

PS2 is making a comeback in my heart.

When I did have class, they were beach labs with Carrie. Digging for beach hoppers, sand crabs, fossils, etc. seemed more like mindless, childish hobbies than class.

Weekend trip to Santa Cruz island?? Oh yeah, that was part of my class too. Island foxes, good dinners, game nights, snorkeling, night hikes, relaxing boat rides, good conversations sitting around a dwindling fire, Marocystis.

Audiotistic: Bassnectar, Kid CuDi, Rusko. Hell yeah son.

Disneyland: With friends both old and new. One of the best groups I've had the pleasure of sharing an adventure with. Thanks Mickey for guiding us. Thanks Roger Rabbit for making me lose my mind. Caption EO (aka Michael Jackson) I still feel your groove. Haunted Mansion was legitimately frightening. Tower of Terror, terrifying. Glowfest (EDC for me and young children) was absolutely amazing and quite simply blew my mind. World of Color is indescribable, I saw it twice. Once far away, and the next time in the "splash zone". It was inspirational both times.
I will always remember that bubble gun and the befuddled clam.

Back in San Jose with no school. Doing what I do best. Whatsup chillers. Lets chill until the sun goes down and not stop chilling til the sun comes back up.

Day 3

As the temperature in the desert was peaking. I saw Rusko. It was everything you would expect from a dubstep set. Dirty, grimy, nasty, people getting down-with-the-get-down. I wasn't really in the mood to party hard, but the second I stepped in the Sahara the energy proved to be too much. i couldn't help but join the crowd.

I bought an ice cream and headed over to Florence and the Machine. I honestly had no idea what this concert would be like. I just had free time and decided to check out some acts that were going on at the time. I found a really nice place to watch because the chick next to me was fanning herself and as a consequence, she was fanning me as well ( I was sure to thank her for cooling me off the entire concert). Music was pretty good. But this girl is a red-headed rockstar, great energy and she was fun to watch.

Sat and watched the crowd get down at Club 75. Watching everyone dancing, the old and young. The drunk and drugged. Lawyers, doctors, teachers whoever. At this point I understood what a celebration was. A festival of music. All sorts of people, genuinely appreciating music, in whatever way they want. The energy was just so positive, I couldn't help but sit there and smile. The desert is an amazing place.

Took it easy for the early part of the evening. Caught a little but of Thom Yorke's set, but I also wanted to check out this one guys set, whose music I never really got into, but he was suppose to have a pretty legit set-up. Plastikman

This could have possibly been my absolute favorite show of the weekend. It totally blew my mind. Plastikman shaking my soul with minimalist techno while behind a giant wall of LED lights. The greatness of this show is hard to put into words. The music went along perfectly with the visuals. The energy of the crowd was great. I was posted on a giant camera with cushioned seats and had a great view of the show. I had a good conversation with a drugged out middle-aged couple and a guy dressed in American flag attire. Yes yes yes. I will put my foot down and say 100%, that was the best show I experienced all weekend. Coachella, thank you for introducing me to Plastikman.

No justice. You just had to be there.

Ended up being late to the Gorillaz because I couldn't tear myself away from Plastikman. I loved their set. Little Dragon songs were too good. I was glad I got to see them perform, but got even more sad that I missed their set (sigh). I appreciated the variety of songs and styles of music they played. It made for a perfect ending to a celebration of all styles of music.

Genuine and powerful

And 1 month later, I still think about my time in the desert quite regularly. It makes me happy. It helps me enjoy other people's company. As weird as it sounds, I am a better person for experiencing Coachella.

I promised a stranger that I wouldn't take off my wristband until I felt like my spirit no longer wanted to be at Coachella. I lasted a ~month before I took it off. My spirit still wants to be there. So to the girl whom this promise was made to: sorry!
